Home Insurance Unoccupied Property Buying A Home With Water Damage... Insurance?

Buying a home with water damage... insurance? - home insurance unoccupied property

My friend and I have a house that we are interested in purchasing, can be found. We like the idea of buying a fixer upper and they are the types of houses that are in our price range. In any case, this house has all the features we love, etc., but in execution. Because it is empty, the pipes froze and burst during the winter months, so some water damage. As it is technically not covered by homeowners insurance now sold "as is". I wonder whether we can buy this house, we get insurance for them, water and everything? And if so, we will be able to a claim for repairs and everything is in the pocket file? Who such an experience? Is water loss of more than a nuisance? Thank you!
