How to ground voltage regulator on Chrysler 318? - voltage regulator for boat

I have an old wooden boat in there with a 1968 318th I fried the ignition coil with a bad regulator. Now I replaced the 2 of them, but no spark! Make sure the dirt road back to the battery neg terminal or direct cable connection.

There must be a belt of negative mass of the engine alternator (or generator) and a controller.
